TROPICAL STORM KETSANA DEVASTATES METRO MANILA

The Children’s Relief Fund (CRF) works in the heart of Metro Manila, Philippines. We have projects in and around some of the hard-hit areas of Rizal province and in Quezon City. Although the children and staff at our two street-children centres were relatively safe from the disaster, the children and families in the surrounding communities were not. The CRF is in dire need of additional funds in order to purchase rice, water and blankets for the families of our 70 day-care children who were affected by this deluge. At the moment the availability of these supplies is very difficult for people to gain access to in this depressed area. Furthermore, in the town of Tay-Tay, Rizal, where the newly constructed SLCI school is located, there was a great deal of flooding. The school structure itself was not affected as it sits on a hill, but certain areas of the town-proper are still under water, and many of the families of the students belonging to SLCI reside in this area. Some of these families live in squatters near the flood-ways which were completely inundated. These families have nothing to begin with, and are now faced with the threat of hunger and water-borne diseases. We are asking people or organisations to donate so that the CRF can get lifesaving supplies to these people as soon as possible. Please give any amount you can! For €20.00 or the equivalent of US$25.00, we can purchase rice, water and blankets for these destitute families. That’s the same as having one meal at a restaurant. The CRF has a lorry (truck) on hand which can deliver these goods to the victims of this catastrophe. Please click on “Make a Donation” for those who wish to give online by way of Paypal, or click on “Donations” at the right to gain access to CRF bank account information.
